Sweden and Germany
13 - 21 May 2003

I left the Stockholm area on May 13. My plans were to first head down to Southern Portugal and Southern Spain, where it should be warm enough to satisfy my needs even in winter. People had told me I had to check out the Algarve coast in Portugal. Besides that, I had never visited Portugal before - enough of a reason to go there!

I took the opportunity to visit many friends on the way down. A real advantage with having my own van.

Pictures

- Kajsa and Lars at their home in Öjaby near Växjö, Sweden. We met them on our kayaking trip in Fiji in 1998, while they were circling the globe. They were able to change their flights home and come and visit us in Seattle (and became hot-tub lovers in .1 seconds)
- Åhus at the east coast of Skåne, Southern Sweden
- The house of my aunt and uncle in Åhus
- My aunt Gunilla (my mother's sister)
- My uncle Bengt (Gunilla's husband)
- The castle of Karlsholm in Skåne, where my mother spent many summers. The castle was leased by her uncle (father's sister's husband) Johan Nilsson, who was the governor of Kristianstad and speaker of the Swedish upper house for many years
- the children's house at Karlsholm
- Na and her house near Höganäs, Skåne. As the mother of my best friend, I spent many MANY days and nights in their family house during school years
- Helsingör and the ferry and Denmark on the other side
- The ferry to Germany from Rödby in Southern Denmark
- The house where Petra lives in Lüneburg south of Hamburg, Germany.
- Petra and Rain (picture taken in 2002). We met Petra in India in 2000, where she among other things hiked the Himalayas and studied Buddhism in Dharamsala
- Petra and her motorcycle (picture taken in 2002).
- Beautiful Lüneburg
