Indian Prawns Indiska räkor Crevettes indiennes

Prawn dish ingredients

  • 400 g (a scant pound) peeled prawns
  • 2 medium size shredded red bell peppers [strimlade paprikor poivrons rappés]
  • ½ shredded leek [strimlad purjolök poireau rappé]
  • 2-3 tsp spicy curry (or mild curry and add some cayenne)
  • 1 Table sp butter
  • 2 Table sp tomato puree
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cloves of garlic [klyftor vitlök gousses d'ail]
  • 2 dl cream (30% fat) [mellangrädde]
  • salt

    Other ingredients

  • 4 servings of rice
  • salad prepared as you like it

    Start preparing the rice. Meanwhile sizzle [fräs] the veggies and the curry quickly in the butter. Add the tomato puree and the crushed tomatoes and let simmer for five minutes. Add the cream and the garlic and salt as needed.

    If using frozen prawns add them now and let them thaw while simmering. If using fresh prawns add them just before serving and let them warm up. Do not cook the prawns.

    Serve with rice and salad.
